Welcome
To my friends, colleagues, neighbours: thank you for stopping by.
As some may know, in the second half of 2020 I found myself experiencing symptoms of burnout and opted for a short leave, to allow me to step back from work for a little while to rest and to ‘refill my resilience tank’, so to speak. Unfortunately, this experience coincided with my mother’s terminal, Stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis in mid-October and we said farewell to that truly beautiful human at the end of November. Stepping into the role of 'newly-minted matriarch' has certainly been a challenging transition but I move forward with gratitude for my mum's life-long examples of unconditional love and strength-through-compassion.

In the months since her passing - as my family has slowly adjusted to this loss and as I have settled into new, expanded family support & caregiver roles - I have come to accept that in this next short ‘season’ of life, it will be necessary for me to establish a somewhat different balance between work and life. Thus, after a great deal of consideration, I have resigned from my position as Manager of Development Services for the Municipality of Meaford. It's my intention to spend these next few months focused on personal & family well-being and then, when the time is right, I will begin to explore work again - with a focus on balance and meaningful community impact.
The work that excites me, challenges and fulfils me is - and has always been - about our interdependence. The ways that we inhabit and interact with this big, beautiful world around us; the ways that we choose to work together, for each other; and the institutions and systems we build to sustain us, each truly fascinate me. And so, while I may inhabit my roles as a public servant and proud Registered Professional Planner differently in the future, I can’t imagine any truer calling than working towards the flourishing of this community I love.

Regarding this website...admittedly, I don't quite know 'what' I intend for it to eventually become. For now, I simply feel compelled to carve out a space where I can honour the knowledge and beautiful relationships I have been so fortunate to cultivate over the last 15 years of my career. I have always found clarity in writing and so the blog format, for sharing reflections & exploring big juicy problems (and hopefully, big juicy solutions too) just feels 'right'.

I invite you to join me on this journey.
